Higher Than a Kite

Nicki brushed her hair into a ponytail before entering her bedroom to find Kenzie on her bed. She was laying on her stomach, taking pictures on Nicki's phone. Nicki took her phone from the child who huffed. She looked at her out the side of her eye and MacKenzie smiled wide. Nicki stuck out her tongue and they both laughed.

"Daddy called." She informed her mother.

"Why?"

"He left."

"To go where? It's movie night."

"Caddy wanted nachos."

"What?!"

"I know, mama." She shook her head before throwing her hands up. "They so extra."

"Little girl..." Nicki laughed.

"They are, Mommy." She smiled.

"And what are you?"

"I'm not extra." She rested her hand on her chest with raised eyebrows that gave her a look of shock.

"Yeah, right..." Nicki laughed. "Is your brother back?"

"Um hmm. He's sleep. He told me to leave him the hell alone."

"Uh," Nicki gasped. "What did I tell you about cursing? I'm not gone warn you again."

"That it's bad." She hung her head before rapidly speaking. "But, Mommy, they say it in church so..."

"That's not the context that they're using it in."

"Huh?" She looked at her confused.

"In church, Hell is a place where monsters go. What your brother said is the same as the F word. You remember when Bash got in trouble for saying that?"

"So it's the same like bitch. Like a dog and a woman?" She smiled proudly knowing that she understood her mother.

"Don't say that, Grace." Nicki whined. "How do you even know that?"

"Brody."

"Stop repeating stuff that you hear Caiah say."

"Okay..."

"I'm serious." She said sternly. "Next time you're tasting soap."

"Okay..."

"Now, apologize for using that language around your mother."

"I'm sorry, Mommy." She smiled before kissing her cheek.

"Oh, you hear that?" She smiled.

"What?"

"Daddy's home. Go start the movie and I'll get your brother."

"Okay..." She smiled before hopping off the bed and running.

Nicki released a sigh before getting up. She already knew that tonight would be a long night because it had been a long day. Hopefully, the girls wouldn't be hyperactive, Micaiah left his attitude in his room, and she liked Safaree tonight. She knocked on Micaiah's door to receive no answer. She pushed the door open.

"Caiah, get up." She flicked on the light to see his room a mess and him sprawled across the bed. "Caiah!"

"Man, what?!" He answered with an attitude with his eyes half open.

"Why the hell does this room look like this?!"

He sucked his teeth and huffed, "Son."

"Son? Oh... Oh, so I'm your son?"

"Ma, please..."

"No!" She picked up a pair of pants and threw them. The pants landed on the bed while both pairs of eyes landed on the zip lock bag resting on Nicki's foot.

"Yo, Ma... It's not-"

"Oh, you got me fucked up." She picked it up.

"Ma." He stood.

"You gone bring this shit in my house?" She began walking out of the room. "Safaree!"

"Ma... It's not mine." He followed behind her.

"Yeah, and I was born yesterday." She descended down the stairs. "Safaree!"

"Ma."

"Stop talking to me before I kick your ass little boy." She began going down to the basement. "Safaree!"

She got to the entrance of the theater and called Safaree again. The girls knew by the sound of her voice to stay put. When he exited, she slapped his chest with the bag.

"Whoa." Safaree said.

"Safaree, I'm going to kill him." She paced the floor.

"Yo, Pops-"

"What the hell is he thinking?" She asked before turning to Micaiah. "What are you thinking?"

"I-"

"Lie. I want you to so I can knock you so hard upside your head that you'll be high for the rest of you life!"

"Okay..." Safaree chimed in knowing that his wife wasn't going to calm down. "Where you get this?"

"A friend asked me to hold it."

"Are you fucking serious?" Nicki laughed. "So, you gone sit here... In my face... Probably high-"

"Nic." Safaree said before turning his attention to his son. "Yo, quit lying. You caught. It's over. Where you get this?"

He sighed, "Bash's homeboy."

"Bash who?" Nicki asked.

"Ms. Amber's son."

"Really?" Nicki asked.

"You smoking this shit in our house?" Safaree asked.

"Go ahead and lie." Nicki warned him.

He huffed. "This the first time I brought it home. I swear. I was gone gone smoke with somebody and it was gone be the last time cause basketball about to start but they couldn't so-"

"Oh, so I can get a call like I'm about to give Amber?"

"You can't do that!"

"The hell I can."

Safaree pulled Nicki to the side. "Look, babe... I'll handle this. Go watch the movie with the girls."

"Safa-"

"I'm telling you now. How you wanna do things is only gone push him towards it."

"I-"

"I got it." Nicki glared at Micaiah before angrily storming off. Safaree grabbed Micaiah by his collar and pulled him upstairs.

Hours later, Nicki and Safaree sat in a state of euphoria. Somehow, Safaree had convinced Nicki to smoke Micaiah's weed. Safaree was currently moon walking around the room to prove to Nicki that it could be done on carpet. When he fell, she began hysterically laughing.

"You are a true idiot!" She laughed.

"Wait. You hear that?"

"What?" She listened closely thinking that he heard one of the kids. They sat in silence for a few moments before Safaree finally spoke.

"That's the sound of you being a hater." She laughed before picking up a pillow and throwing it at him.

"Yo, stop!"

"Safaree."

"What?"

"I love you." She smiled.

"You weird." He got up and laid beside her.

"How come every time I try to be affectionate you call me weird?"

"Cause you evil as shit and its always random."

"I am not." She hit him.

"See."

"See." She mimicked him. "Safaree, we should like take a family vacation or something cause-"

"Wait. What?" He looked at her funny.

"Huh?"

"What you say?"

"What did you say?"

"Nigga, you was talking." He shook his head. "Aye, am I talking funny?"

"What?" She laughed.

"Like... slurred." She starred at him. "Am... I... talking... funny?"

"Safaree." She laughed. "What the hell is your problem?"

"I'm high." He said lazily.

They starred at each other for a while before Safaree began playing in her hair. He kissed her lips lightly. The way he looked at her as if she were indeed the most beautiful person in the world caused her to blush and look away. He kissed her once more, and this time she returned the favor.

"I love you, too." He said. He frowned when he noticed a wave of sadness wash over her. "What's wrong?"

"Do you think that we're good parents?"

"Duh." He said and she laughed lightly.

"Seriously," She sat up. "Do you think I'm a good mom?"

"Nicki," He looked at her funny and sat up. "What-"

"I just," She shrugged. "I mean, something has to be wrong if our son feels the need to do drugs."

"We just smoked. We good."

"Are you kidding? I'm so fucked up-"

"Stop. You're not." He sighed and ran his hand over his face. He hadn't planned for the weed to take this effect on her. He bargained for a few laughs, and maybe getting lucky, but not this.

"I am and because I am I'm scared that my kids will be."

"All teenagers try this stuff. My first time smoking was like twelve."

"Twelve?!"

"Yeah..." He laughed. "You're a great mom."

"But everything that we put him through, Safaree.... You don't think that he's angry or-"

"Nicki, he's fine."

"I don't know." She starred at her hands. "I just don't want Micaiah to end up like him."

"Like... Oh." He sighed. "I don't think its that serious."

"But everybody says that weed is a gateway drug." Safaree starred at her for a second before laughing hysterically. "What?" He continued to laugh which made her laugh too. "What, Safaree?"

"Yoooo, you trippin' son."

"I'm not." She laughed. "This is serious."

"Yo, take your crazy ass to sleep."

"Safaree!" She whined.

"Nicki, I'm not playing with you tonight." He stood.

"Safaree." Her tone was playfully demanding.

"Man, I'm hungry."

"Come here." She pouted. She watched, biting her lip, as he crawled towards her and then straddled her.

"What you want?" He smirked.

"I really, really want..."

"What?" He smiled.

"Some... Nachos." She laughed. "Get the fuck off me son."

"Nah."

He pinned her arms above her head then began kissing her. At first she tried fighting him off, but the intensity of his touch which was aided by the drug, proved to be irrisitable. As he moved his lips to her neck, she moaned as if he had already entered her. She managed to wrapped her legs around his waist.

"Faree..." She moaned as he groped her breast.

"Hmm."

"Now..." She whispered. "I want it, now."

Without any hesitation, he pulled the front of his pajama pants down, only exposing his member. She pulled her shorts aside and watched as he entered her.

"Ugh." They said released the same sound. Her head went back, her bottom lip became entrapped between her teeth, and her hips went forward. His eyes shut tight, the covers were choked within his grasp, but his rhythm was slow and steady. The lovemaking session only lasted for minutes but it left enough satisfaction for what seemed like a lifetime. When they were done, Safaree rolled over. They both laid on their backs, breathing in only the positive vibes that they sent out. They stayed this way until sleep found it's way to them.

Birthday Bashed

"NiNi?" Bash spoke.

"Yes?" Nicki looked up from the girls' goodie bags that she had made for their party guest.

"Do I have to go?"

"Yes, Bash. Your sisters want you there." She said as she tied a ribbon around another bag.

"But they're gonna be doing girl stuff."

"Tonight they are just watching movies and playing games."

"But-"

"Look, just play one game or watch one movie and then you can go hang with Safaree and Caiah."

"They don't have to go?" He said shocked.

"No, I don't want to hear Catherine's mouth about men being around the girls."

"Why would you hear her mouth?"

"No reason." She shook her head. "Look, if you dont want to go tonight, go tell them."

He huffed, "Fine."

"Hello." She put her phone to her ear.

"Hey, boo."

"Hey, TT." She smiled.

"What you doing?"

"Last minute stuff for the girls' party."

She laughed, "How much longer do you think that you can combine their parties."

"Honey child..." She laughed. "This will be the last year. Kenzie wanted to go to the spa and have a sleepover and Cadence wanted to go see Disney On Ice. They argued for hours."

"And you ended up doing it all?" She laughed.

"Yup." She sighed.

"Why does that little girl want to go to the spa?"

Nicki rolled her eyes, "Nadia's sixth birthday was spa themed. This company comes and does kiddie facials and mani/pedis. Sooo... Yeah."

"Oh. Well, what are you doing?"

"For?"

"Your birthday, Onika."

"Oh, I dont know. I'm happy just making sure the girls have a good time and if these boojie ass housewives leave me alone, that would be nice too."

"My home girl Catherine stopping by?" She laughed.

"You know it." She said irritably. "I don't know why Kenzie had to become friends with the kid who has the most annoying parent."

"Don't give her sugar, Mrs. Samuels." TT imitated her.

"Mrs. Samuels, please don't allow her to watch PG-13 movies." Nicki mimicked her as well.

"Are you feeding your children organic foods, Mrs. Samuels?" They both began laughing.

"Oh, my gosh... I can't stand her. I had to hide all the freaking candy until after she comes and drops her child off."

"Bitch, that is your house. You dont have to hide shit."

"I don't but I do." She laughed. "Last weekend when I took Kenzie to dance she talked to me for almost an hour about the benefits of making your kids read Shakespeare while listening to classical music."

"They're five years old."

"Exactly. Bitch doesn't want her child watching PG-13 movies but she can read her stories about a 13 year old killing herself over a boy."

TT laughed, "Ass backwards."

"Right."

"So, back to this birthday."

"I dont have time to celebrate. Safaree has been bothering me all week but I'm not going to feel like doing anything."

"You and Safaree can go out to eat? You know, date night..."

"We have date night once a month. Plus, with his leg being broke, I'm sick of seeing his funny looking ass." She laughed."I wouldn't mind going to dinner with my son though."

"Caiah?"

"Yeah. He do not be stunting me. All he think about is these fast tail little girls."

"He's a teenager."

"That's what Safaree keeps saying but... I don't know. We don't even do our Mommy and Me days anymore."

"Your his parent though. His only concern is his friends."

"He still hangs around Safaree. I mean, I know it's cause they're talking about guy stuff and Safaree's stupid ass has him riding but I still get jealous. I want my baby back." She whined. Nicki sighed when she heard the doorbell ring. "Welp, time to put on my Mommy hat again."

"Ok, girl." She laughed. "Have fun and be on the look out for my gift. Give the girls kisses for me."

"I will."

"Bye."

"Bye."

Nicki rolled her eyes as she sat her phone on the counter. She actually loved throwing parties for her kids, she hated dealing with other parents though. They always seemed to be critiquing and judging her. Although she didn't care what they thought, she didn't want to make events and activities awkward for her children. She smiled before opening the door but that faded when she saw the last person she wanted to see, Stephanie.

"Bash!" Nicki called.

"I'm not here for Sebastian." Stephanie stated.

"Safaree?"

"You."

"What do you want?"

"I called but you didn't answer." Nicki stared at her blankly. "Look, is there somewhere we can-"

"Mommy!" Sebastian yelled. They both watched him run over to her and hug Stephanie.

"Here." She went into her purse and pulled out three cards. "You forgot your gifts."

"Thank you." He handed one card to Nicki. "Here you go."

"Aw, thanks baby." She kissed his cheek and he ran the other way to give the girls their cards.

Meanwhile, Safaree was up stairs on the phone with TT. He had been trying to get Nicki to tell him what she wanted for weeks but all she was concerned with was the girls party.

"I'm telling you, Safaree, do something simple."

"Why can't I take my wife out?" He said irritated.

"She's not leaving the girls' party."

"But-"

"Safaree, why do you think she plans all these things by herself and puts so much into it? She said she will never miss one of her kids' parties again."

"Man-"

"You take her away from that party tonight and she will rip your head off."

"Its a weekend sleepover. She can miss one day."

"But she won't."

"I'm gone just-" Nicki entered their bedroom and slammed the door behind herself. "Let me call you back, T."

"Alright." She said.

"Hey. What's wrong?" He approached her and touched her arm and she snatched her arm away. He watched her pace for a few seconds. "Nicki?"

"You knew?!"

"Knew... What?"

"You keeping secrets with that bitch?! How could you let this happen?" As her eyes began to water, he realized what she was referring to. She sniffled, "We're his family. Why would you let her take him?"

"I-" He sighed. "His grandparents gave her custody. What was I supposed to do?"

"We said that when that day came that we would fight for him... That we would try to get custody."

"That's his mother."

"She didn't want him! She shows up one day randomly and a couple months later she can just take him?"

"Nicki, we'll still get to see him every other weekend. You just dont want her to have him because we-"

She chuckled, "You think this is about you and her? No, dumbass! She's moving to fucking Australia with her husband and taking him!"

"What?! But she said-"

"Yeah... Gotcho ass... Again!" She rolled her eyes. The doorbell rang. "Go open the door for the girls' friends. I'll be down in a second."

As soon as she sat on the bed to gather her thoughts, a knocked came at the door.

She huffed, "Come in." Cadence peeked her head in with a wide smile before running to her mother. "What do you want, Tuney?"

She giggled, "To give you this." She handed Nicki a sparkly envelope that she could tell the girls decorated. "I have to go, Mommy. My friend is here."

"You are so rude." Nicki laughed before kissing her forehead. "I'll be down in a second. She opened the envelope to find a hand made card that read:

You are invited to dine with Prince Caiah.

She instantly began laughing as memories washed over her. She looked at her watch. She was already five minutes late. She made her way to the dining room where her son was waiting.

"Happy Birthday." He said with a wide grin. All she could do was smile as he pulled her chair out.

"How did you-"

"This all you been dropping hints about. Pops didn't catch on so I just did it myself." He smiled proudly.

"I love it." She smiled. "Did you cook?"

"Um, kind of... My home girl helped." She rolled her eyes and he laughed. "Ma."

"She probably trying to kill me so she can have you to herself."

"Maybe," He joked. "But just give it a chance."

During the dinner, Micaiah was surprised that he could still talk to his mother about anything. Nicki, on the other hand, walked away from the table seeing her son in a whole new light. She was still adjusting to him becoming a young man.

After ending her dinner with her son, Nicki and her mother got the kids ready for bed. They made her promise that she would spend the night with them so she ended up uncomfortably sharing a sleeping bag with Cadence. As she was falling asleep she felt a tug on her arm. Her eyes opened to see Safaee. He put his finger to his lips and she carefully got up and followed behind him.

"What?" She leaned on the kitchen counter top.

"I didn't know that she was taking him out of the country and I know I should have told you right away but I just found our yesterday. I'm sorry."

"You should have told me right away, Safaree."

"And ruined your mood for this weekend? Nicki, that's not no easy topic to bring up. It's almost the same thing as somebody walking in her and taking Caiah or the girls from us."

"To me it is the same thing. I really don't trust her. What if something happens? How will we know he needs help or how can we get to him?"

Safaree sighed and ran his hand over his face. "You really wanna fight this?"

"Positive. This is where he should've been in the first place."

"Alright."

"Alright?" She smiled.

"Yup."

"Just like that? No drama... No arguments."

"Consider it a birthday gift." He winked.

"Thank you, daddy."

"Daddy?" He smirked.

"Yeah, there's another gift I was looking forward to."

"Is that so?" He pressed his body against hers.

"Mmhm."

"About how big is it?" He asked and she blushed.

"I think you can show me better than I can tell you."

"Daddy?" They looked up to see Kenzie rubbing her eye.

"Snack time." Safaree looked at Nicki and shrugged.

"I wish." She mumbled. "What are you doing up baby?"

"Snack time." Kenzie answered sleepily.

"What are we having?" Safaree asked.

"Cereal." Kenzie answered.

"Me too, Pops." Micaiah entered on his phone.

"What is this?" Nicki asked.

"Snack time." Micaiah asked without looking up from his phone.

"And y'all do this every night?"

"Pretty much." Safaree answered.

"And I'm the only one who's not in on this?"

"Nah, you don't see Cadence or Bash, do you?" Caiah answered.

"So, y'all tryna play us?"

"Y'all be knocked out." Safaree laughed. "I thought you knew anyways. We been doing this for years."

"Years?" She asked shocked. "Seriously."

"Yeah." They all laughed.

"It's like a whole ass secret society under my roof."

"Mommy?" Kenzie said.

"Yes?"

"Why are you here?"

"Oop. Well, I know when I'm not wanted. Goodnight." She kissed all of them.

"Night!" They all said in unison.

Two post, back to back. I hope you all are happy with them. :) this was supposed to be posted on Nic's b'day but never happened. Like I said on the other blog, this story is boring me so I think it's time to shut it down. Idk yet tho.
